Have u ever notice the stickers or on fruits. which are known as PLU or’ price lookup”. after seeing the stickers what is the first thought that comes to your mind. truly speaking before writing this article when I see these stickers on fruits I thought that those fruits are of very high quality.

What after studying thoroughly I came to know the hidden meaning behind fruits and vegetable stickers. once if you understand the code then you can easily recognize by these little labels whether your fruits are conventional, genetically modified, or organic.  now I know the real meaning that why these stickers are applied to fruits. most of us think that all the stickers or labels on fruits and vegetables are the same. but There are three different types of stickers that are applied on fruits or vegetables on the basis of their produce like 

1 Conventionally Grown Crops

 if your fruit has a sticker with 4 digit code on it then it reveals that the fruit was grown conventionally. a 4 digit code indicates that the fruit has been grown with pesticides and chemicals in possibly reduced soil. yet the pesticide label is not so high and not very harmful to health. by knowing the proper way of washing the produce you can remove any bacteria or germs

2 Genetically Modified Crops

 If your fruit has a sticker having  5 digit code and the code starts with the number 8 then it implies your fruit has been grown with genetic modification. Genetically modified crops are also known as GMOs But are careful these fruits have a negative effect on our health and may also be carcinogenic. recently so many countries ban GMOs

3 Organic crops

If you see a fruit having a sticker with 5 digit code starting with the number 9 which implies that your fruit is purely organic. And safe to consume 

conclusion:  we should buy our fruits locally if possible

we should buy our fruits from the local farmers. because I think they are organic according to their way of farming. but due to the cost, he does not choose to certify as organic. you should always give your first preference to local farmers, then read your labels at the market and always choose NUMBER 9 !!

Now it's a common question arises that who puts these stickers on fruits .so these stickers are assigned by IFPS I .e.international federation of produce standard. no matter where you go in the world they are the same in all countries.
